Description
This 15-day camping tour of Alaska takes in the region’s magnificent scenery and wildlife, with the chance for plenty of activity on the way. Witness glaciers calving into the ocean, gaze over snow-covered mountains and look out for marine life like sea lions, dolphins and even orca and beluga whales. You’ll tour this huge wilderness by bus and will camp for most of the trip, mucking in with camp tasks and getting up close to the local scenery. Starting from Alaska’s biggest city, Anchorage, you’ll head north into Denali National Park, home to North America’s highest peak. From here you’ll drive through wonderful mountain scenery to Wrangell St-Elias National Park, a land of remote glaciers. Other highlights include a stay at the quaint old town of Chickaloon, the port of Valdez, and crossing Prince William Sound by ferry. The Kenai Peninsula is bound to impress, too, and throughout the journey you’ll be able to head out on hikes or book activities like sea kayaking or scenic flights above the Arctic landscape.
