Description
Tour Angkor Wat and around to discover Cambodia's greatest monuments, staying in the lively town of Siem Reap, just kilometres from many of the area’s historic sites. You'll be based in comfortable accommodation and will take guided tours to the main temples and ruins, starting with the South Gate, Angkor Thom and Bayon. There'll be a guided tour of Angkor Wat itself, too, and you can even rise early to view the ruins at sunrise. The whole temple complex was built between the 9th and 14th centuries at the high point of the Khmer Empire and ranks among the world's most impressive groups of monuments. The crumbling, jungle-covered temple of Ta Prohm is particularly atmospheric, and intricately carved Banteay Srei is spectacular too. The tour also included a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake, where you will cruise past floating villages and stop at a traditional fishing house.
