Description
The Camino de Santiago is one of the world’s most famous pilgrim trails, winding across northern Spain to the tomb of St James in the venerable city of Santiago de Compostela. Stepping in the footsteps of countless pilgrims, you’ll hike through beautiful rolling countryside and forests and pass lovely villages and hamlets. The route takes you along the final 100 kilometres of the trail from Castile into the province of Galicia, meaning you’ll qualify for the official pilgrim’s certificate on completion of the walk. Cover an average of about 22 kilometres each day on well-marked trails with the help of detailed route notes, and stay in comfortable guesthouses and hotels. Your baggage will also be transferred between overnight stops. Meet travellers from around the world on the journey as you soak up the unique spirit of the pilgrim route, culminating in your entrance to Santiago’s grand main square with its magnificent Baroque cathedral.
