A family tour of south west USA, taking in exciting big cities, spectacular desert landscape, vast lakes and a taste of cowboy culture. Suitable for families with school-age children, there will be plenty to do and see along the way. Journey times are kept fairly short, with frequent stops so that young travellers don't get bored. Head to the beaches of San Diego, camp out in Joshua Tree National Park and spend two nights by the Grand Canyon. Join a Navajo Indian guide for a 4WD tour of Monument Valley and stay at a working cowboy ranch where you can horse ride, hike and swap stories round the campfire. Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks are also bound to impress, and then from the rugged wilderness you'll be transported to a whole different world – the bright lights and non-stop action of Las Vegas, where there's something to keep everyone entertained.
