Description
Cycling is the perfect way to tour Cuba, letting you get up close to the island’s culture, interact with the locals and fully appreciate the stunning scenery. First travel west from Havana into Pinar del Río, Cuba’s ‘GardenProvince’. This is cigar country, so a trip to the local cigar factory is a must before starting your first guided cycle ride, pedaling round the hills and tobacco fields of Viñales. Next cycle past dramatic mountains to the north coast, stopping en route for picnic lunches and arriving at unspoiled white sand beaches. Follow in the footsteps of Che Guevara at Cueva de los Portales, and enter Soroa, a region of babbling rivers, tall trees and exotic orchids. Take in the beautiful landscape of the Guaniguanico and El Rosario mountain ranges and enjoy traditional Cuban Creole cuisine. Back in the capital you’ll leave your bikes behind to join a walking tour of this extraordinary city, where salsa rhythms seem to pulse from every doorway.
