Description

The Dalmatian coast offers a beguiling slice of the old Mediterranean – idyllic islands, clear blue waters, ancient ruins, pretty fishing villages, superb seafood and friendly locals. There’s also the extraordinary cities of Dubrovnik and Split, and you’ll be staying at both on this eight-day tour of southern Croatia. Dubrovnik’s old walled city is often called ‘the pearl of the Adriatic’, and it’s not hard to see why – explore the mighty city walls and soak up the atmosphere from one of its many lively pavement cafes. Next you’ll cross the water to Korcula, an island heavily influenced by its previous Venetian rulers. Here you’ll head inland to feast on local produce at a traditional farm and have time to explore the island’s perfectly preserved main town. Continue to Hvar, the region’s most stylish destination, where Renaissance mansions line the graceful promenade, and many secluded beaches are just waiting to be discovered. Conclude your journey in Split, whose remarkable old town has grown up among the ruins of the Roman Diocletian’s Palace.
