Follow the northern boundary of the Roman Empire, tracing the route of Hadrian’s Wall on this great four-day British cycling tour. You’ll have full vehicle and mechanical back-up all the way and stay in comfy B&Bs and inns with your baggage transferred between them each day. There are a few challenging hills but the riding is generally leisurely, letting you appreciate the stunning scenery of Cumbria and Northumberland as you cycle from coast to coast. On the way you’ll cycle sections of Hadrian’s Wall and other Roman remains like the impressive Vindolanda fort. The route is all on quiet country lanes or traffic-free paths on the National Cycle Network, and takes you from Bowness-on-Solway eastwards to Newcastle and your final destination at Tynemouth. If you want to see Britain at its best by bike, this is a short cycle tour that is bound to appeal.
