Description

This holiday in Vietnam takes you to the mountainous north near the Chinese border, the capital Hanoi and to the waters of Halong Bay and the South China Sea. Vietnam's northern hill country is a multi-ethnic area where local tribes still keep traditional culture alive, with many villages preserving their own dialects, dress and food. You'll spend six days trekking through this region to visit and stay with remote communities. Stay in Tay stilt houses, hike past paddy fields and through primary rainforest in an area little changed in centuries. Next, taking the sleeper train to Hanoi, there will be a chance to get to know this historic and vibrant city and explore the limestone landscape of Tam Coc by bike and boat. Arriving at Halong Bay you'll then step onboard a traditional sailing junk for a two-night cruise, sleeping in comfortable cabins. Visit tiny islands and hidden caves, swim, sunbathe and take to the water yourself by kayak. A fitting finale to a tour with a perfect blend of culture, adventurous activity and relaxation.
