Including the challenging trek to the top of Kilimanjaro via the scenic Rongai Route, as well as the very best Tanzanian safari experience, this trip fully merits its 'Connoisseur's Choice' status. With its crucial extra day for acclimatisation, this trek has a more relaxed feel and a dramatically improved success rate, in terms of group members actually reaching the summit. Start close to the Tanzania-Kenya border and hike through forest, moor and farmland, with a rest and acclimatisation day at craggy Mawenzi Tarn Camp. Then head out to experience the world's finest game viewing in the Tarangire and Lake Manyara national parks and in the unique Ngorongoro Crater. Game drives in specialist safari vehicles will give you a good chance to spot the 'big five' of elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo and lion.
