Description
Travel through northern Spain by bicycle, passing timeless rural villages and pretty sunflower fields from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean, starting and finishing your tour in irrepressible Barcelona. Driving out from the Catalonian capital, you’ll saddle up and follow the Bici Carril, a former railway line and now a gently graded cycling route. Cycle first to Olot, a historic town surrounded by an impressive volcanic landscape of valleys, cliffs and dense oak forest. Entering the Pyrenees proper you’ll then cycle to Girona, an ancient walled city overlooking the River Onyar. Spend a day exploring then hop back on your bikes to pedal the rest of the route to the Mediterranean town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. With a free day here you’ll find great beaches, excellent seafood, plenty of culture and lots of hiking, biking and watersports opportunities. Then drive back to Barcelona for your final night in the city of Gaudi, Gothic churches, streetlife and style.
