Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Join your tour leader and fellow travellers at the evening welcome meeting, followed by an optional group dinner.
Days 2-3
Take the public bus through rural Vietnam and across the border into Cambodia. Arrive in the capital Phnom Penh where you’ll stay for two nights in a central hotel. In Phnom Penh you’ll visit the Killing Fields to reflect on the country’s troubled recent past. While in the city be sure to visit the Russian Market and visit the Silver Pagoda and Royal Palace.
Days 4-6
Drive to Siem Reap by private bus for three nights in this lively town, your base for visiting the Angkor temple complex. Your local guide will lead you temple hopping to many of the magnificent ruins, including Angkor Wat, the Bayon and atmospheric, jungle-swathed Ta Prohm.
Day 7
The tour continues to Cambodia’s second city, riverside Battambang. From October to February you’ll arrive in the city via a boat trip from Tonle Sap Lake and along the Sangkar River. From March to September low water levels mean you’ll make the scenic drive by bus.
Day 8
Make the long drive into Thailand and to the non-stop action of Bangkok. Time permitting you’ll be able to spend a few hours exploring the Thai capital independently before the optional final night group dinner.
Day 9
The tour ends in Bangkok.
