Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at hotel in Nairobi and meet tour leader for an evening welcome meeting.
Day 2
Join the safari truck to head west from Nairobi across the Great Rift Valley to Kenya's highlands, looking out for Masai herdsmen on the way. The roads are rough and long, and after a picnic lunch in Narok you'll continue to hilltop Kisii to camp for the night.
Day 3
Visit a local soapstone carving cooperative and stop at Musoma market en route to Tanzania. Arrive at the shores of Lake Victoria to camp at one of the least visited parts of Africa's biggest lake. Optional afternoon activities include cycling or boating.
Day 4
Drive to the entrance to the Serengeti for lunch then enter the 15000km2 park for a game drive on the way to your bush camp. As you pass wooded river valleys and 'kopje' rock outcrops be on the look out for big cats and other wildlife.
Day 5
Rise early for a morning game drive, returning to camp for brunch. Relax during the heat the day, setting out in the late afternoon for another game drive. Optional dawn balloon ride today. Dinner back at camp.
Day 6
Leave the Serengeti to travel to the vast Ngorongoro Crater. Stop at Olduvai Gorge en route, the 'cradle of mankind' where some of the first humans once lived. Arrive at your campsite on the crater's rim overlooking the rolling plains below.
Day 7
Head to the Ngorongoro crater floor in 4WD vehicles for a unique wildlife experience. There is a good chance of seeing some of the critically endangered black rhinos that live here. Back on the crater slopes we visit the market at Mto Wa Mbu before pushing on to your final campsite.
Day 8
Make the long drive back to Nairobi to end the tour.
