Description
Northern Thailand boasts fascinating cities, stunning jungle scenery, wide rivers and rolling hillsides populated by welcoming villagers. Your tour starts among the bustle and colour of Bangkok before moving north on the sleeper train to Thailand’s second city Chiang Mai. From here you’ll head out into the hill country for a three-day trek from remote village to village, meeting ethnic Karen and Akha people and staying in simple traditional huts. Back in Chiang Mai you’ll take to bicycle to tour the surrounding countryside for two days, with more chances to meet the friendly locals along the way. After travelling by foot and pedal power, you’ll take to the waters of the River Kwai Noi to paddle kayaks downstream and stay by the idyllic riverside. Along with all this activity, you’ll enjoy your time in the city of Chiang Mai, which offers an excellent choice of restaurants and a must-see night market.
