Description
Bathed by the blue waters of the Mediterranean, the Lycian Peninsula is a part of Turkey's Turquoise Coast, a region famous for its wonderfully
rugged scenery, friendly people and great archaeological interest. From our
rendezvous in Antalya, we first head west to enjoy some of the best
hiking along the coast from Oludeniz to Kabak. We take a
boat out on the Mediterranean to visit Kekova island and the hill-top castle of Simena and then transfer to the eastern section where we continue
the Lycian Way walking the simply stunning coastal path to the
picturesque Cape Gelidonia, with its iconic lighthouses and sharks fin
islets. We complete the Lycian Way with a climb to the `Flames of Chimaira` and
a descent to Cirali where we can see the ancient city of Olympos. During the
trek, we pass through summer shepherds' settlements and small villages where
life proceeds at a seductively sedentary pace and discover hidden bays,
pirates' caves and deserted beaches - perfect for swimming. A relaxing
adventure walking holiday!
