Description
Head to the far north for a cruise of the Svalbard Archipelago, a remote collection of wildlife-rich islands far off the coast of Norway. From the main town Longyearbyen on the largest island Spitsbergen you’ll step aboard the M/S Expedition for seven days cruising the Arctic waters. Staying in comfortable cabins you’ll sail past beautiful fjords, vast glaciers and huge icebergs. Your flexible itinerary will be designed to make the most of local weather and ice conditions. Whatever your route, you’ll be taken to the best spots to search for wildlife, looking out for polar bears, seals, rare Arctic foxes, the islands’ unique species of reindeer and colonies of seabirds. You’ll also have the opportunity to take Zodiac powerboat trips to get up closer to the shoreline and wildlife. Stepping onto the islands themselves you can explore the wilderness first hand and visit historic sites and research stations. Spitsbergen and the Svalbard is an area only open to visitors for a couple of months a year, and promises a unique Arctic experience.
