Description
Travel from New Zealand’s capital Wellington across the Cook Strait to get to know the incomparable South Island. After making the scenic crossing on the Interislander Ferry you’ll stay in the arty town of Nelson, gateway to AbelTasmanNational Park. Next journey to Punakaiki to see its ‘pancake’ rock stacks then travel down the incomparable west coast. Hike through temperate rainforest to Fox Glacier, strapping on crampons to search out its ice caves and icefalls, before stopping in Queenstown, New Zealand’s undisputed adventure capital, overlooked by the Southern Alps. Take a boat cruise on LakeWakatipu then cross FiordlandNational Park to arrive at Milford Sound, heading out onto the water to look for marine life like penguins, dolphins and seals. Before ending your New Zealand tour in the city of Christchurch you’ll stay by the shores of LakeOahu in sight of magnificent Mount Cook, the country’s highest peak.
