Description
This stunning holiday uncovers the delights of ‘Hidden Crete’, as we savour a special blend of high mountain scenery, picturesque coastal walks, traditional villages and legendary Greek hospitality. After a warm-up hike on the rocky peak of Gingilos, we descend to the sea via the famous Samaria Gorge. Two nights at Agia Roumeli, a pretty collection of tavernas accessible only on foot or by boat, allows us the option of a rest day on the beach. Following sun-kissed shoreline and cliff-side pathway, we then trek eastwards to the tiny port of Loutro. This is our base for the next 3 nights, as we make the long day-hike to Pachnes (2453m) at the heart of the rugged 'Lefka Ori' and also complete the excellent circuit trek via the shepherds’ village of Anopolis and the Aradena Gorge. Fall under the spell of unspoiled western Crete!
